Medical weight loss. The metabolic workup first.

Medical weight loss in Hartford County at Superior Wellness is a GLP-1 program built on a metabolic workup, not a standalone script. Every program starts with a 90-minute Blueprint, a full metabolic panel, and an InBody scan before any medication is prescribed.

Getting started

The Superior Blueprint

Visit90 minutes · in person, Wethersfield

Medical weight loss is self-pay, and the Blueprint comes first. Physical exam, InBody scan, and a personalized metabolic and hormonal lab panel reviewed in the room.

Program pricing is quoted privately at the end of the Blueprint visit, after we know what your protocol will look like. Payment options include all major credit cards, HSA and FSA cards, and financing through CareCredit and Cherry. Lab work is often billable to your own insurance.

Key takeaways

  • Medical weight loss at Superior Health & Wellness is a GLP-1 program built on a metabolic workup, never a standalone prescription.
  • Every program starts with the 90-minute Blueprint: physical exam, InBody scan, and a full metabolic and hormonal panel reviewed in the room.
  • When a GLP-1 fits, we use compounded semaglutide or tirzepatide, dosed conservatively and rechecked at three months.
  • Weight loss runs inside a comprehensive hormonal and metabolic plan, because a stubborn plateau is usually multi-system, not a single lever.
Who it’s for

Who medical weight loss is for.

Medical weight loss fits adults whose weight is driven by metabolic or hormonal factors that diet and training alone have not moved. Most of our patients are 25 to 60, have been at this a while, and recognize a cluster of these signals.

A metabolic lab panel and InBody body composition results laid out on a consultation desk at Superior Health & Wellness.
Signals worth a real look
  • Weight settling on the midsection while diet and training have not changed.
  • A long plateau after months or years of consistent effort.
  • Sustained weight gain through perimenopause or after a thyroid issue.
  • Family history of insulin resistance, prediabetes, or type 2 diabetes.
  • Cravings and hunger that feel disordered, not behavioral.
  • Energy that crashes mid-afternoon, then a late-night second wind that wrecks sleep.
  • A previous online GLP-1 subscription that worked while you took it and unraveled the moment you stopped.

If several are familiar, a real workup is the next step.

The problem

Why most weight-loss programs fail.

Most GLP-1 programs are built backward. A telehealth clinic runs a 10-minute video visit, writes a prescription, and ships it. The medication works while you take it, nothing underneath gets addressed, and the weight returns the day you stop. The local version hands every patient the same starting dose with no labs and no body composition, so the side effects and plateaus by month four have nowhere to go.

Sustainable medical weight loss requires three things those models skip. A real workup that explains why the weight is stuck. A protocol built from your data, not a default. And a provider in the relationship long enough to course-correct as your body changes.

How we work

How medical weight loss works here.

Every program starts with the Superior Blueprint: 90 minutes, in person at our Wethersfield clinic, with our provider. The program comes at the end of that visit, not during.

Discovery Call

Free, 15 minutes, with our provider. An honest conversation about what’s going on and whether medical weight loss is the right place to start.

The Blueprint

90 minutes in person: full health history, physical exam, InBody body composition scan, and a personalized metabolic and hormonal lab panel reviewed with you in the room.

Your protocol

If a GLP-1 is the right tool, we say so and explain why. If hormones, thyroid, or a nutrition reset need to come first, we say that too.

One provider

Our provider sees every patient personally and conducts every Discovery Call herself, then stays with you as your body changes.

We are looking for the actual driver: insulin resistance, thyroid function, cortisol patterns, sex hormones, inflammation markers, and your lean mass, body fat, and visceral fat from the InBody.

The medications

GLP-1 medications: semaglutide and tirzepatide.

When a GLP-1 medication is the right fit, we use semaglutide or tirzepatide, selected from your labs, your medical history, and your goals.

Semaglutide is a GLP-1 receptor agonist. It slows gastric emptying, supports insulin sensitivity, and reduces appetite signaling so a calorie deficit feels sustainable instead of punishing. Tirzepatide is a dual GLP-1 and GIP receptor agonist. It works on the same pathways and adds a second mechanism that often shows up as steadier blood sugar and improved metabolic markers.

Which one fits you is a clinical decision, not a marketing one. We dose conservatively to start, titrate based on response and side effects, and recheck labs at the 3-month mark.

How we choose your molecule

  • Your full metabolic and hormonal lab panel.
  • An InBody body composition scan.
  • Your medical history and goals.
  • A conservative start, titrated on response, rechecked at three months.
The integration

Why weight loss is never standalone here.

Medical weight loss at Superior Wellness runs inside a comprehensive metabolic and hormonal plan, never as a standalone program. The reason is clinical. A perimenopausal woman with crashing estradiol and progesterone will plateau on a GLP-1 if her hormones are not addressed. A man with low testosterone will lose lean mass alongside the fat unless his hormone profile is supported. Untreated insulin resistance, poor sleep, and chronic cortisol elevation stall results the moment the medication taper begins.

That is why the Blueprint is required. The lab panel and the InBody tell us whether weight loss is a single-lever problem or a multi-system one. Most of the time it is multi-system. GLP-1 often pairs with hormone optimization, targeted nutrition guidance, and ongoing metabolic monitoring so the weight that comes off stays off.

The program

What’s included in your program.

Every program runs a 3-month minimum. After the initial program, most patients move to monthly maintenance with ongoing metabolic monitoring.

Common questions

Common questions about medical weight loss.

Telehealth GLP-1 clinics are a prescription pathway: a short video call, a default dose, a monthly shipment, nothing underneath the weight examined. Every program here starts with a 90-minute in-person Blueprint, a full metabolic and hormonal panel, an InBody scan, and a physical exam, reviewed with you before any program is built.
We do not promise a number. Weight loss on a properly dosed GLP-1, inside a comprehensive program, tends to be steady and sustainable when the underlying drivers are addressed. The Blueprint is where we identify those drivers. Your InBody, lab panel, history, and goals shape your specific arc, and we will tell you honestly at the end of the visit.
Semaglutide is the generic name; Ozempic and Wegovy are brand-name formulations of it. Mounjaro and Zepbound are brand-name formulations of tirzepatide. We use compounded semaglutide and tirzepatide from a licensed pharmacy, dosed and titrated to your protocol. The clinical question is which molecule fits you, not which brand label is on the box.
Sometimes. Many patients who come to us for weight loss have a hormonal driver underneath the metabolic one: perimenopause, low testosterone, or thyroid issues. The Blueprint panel surfaces those. If hormones are part of the picture, the program is built to address both. If they are not the driver, we say so. The honest answer is what the labs show.
The most common side effects of semaglutide and tirzepatide are gastrointestinal. Nausea, reduced appetite, and digestive changes are common in the first weeks of dosing or after a dose increase, and most settle as the body adjusts. We start conservatively, titrate based on tolerance, and stay in the conversation throughout. Specific risks and contraindications are reviewed personally at your Blueprint visit.
The 3-month initial program is the minimum. Most patients continue into monthly maintenance with ongoing metabolic and hormonal monitoring. The right length depends on your starting picture and how your body responds, and we build the taper or long-term plan with you from the data.
The program itself is self-pay. We do not bill insurance for the visit, the medication, or the InBody. Lab work is often billable to your own insurance when run through a network lab. We accept HSA and FSA cards and offer financing through CareCredit and Cherry.
