Sick care waits until something breaks, then patches it. Optimization builds the body up before it can. The difference between those two ideas is the whole practice.
Afua’s early career was primary care in a long-term care setting, with the most medically complex patients in the system. When COVID arrived, she watched outcomes split along a line no chart was tracking: how strong each patient’s body was before the virus reached it.
The model she trained in had no answer for that. It waits for disease, then reacts. What gets called prevention is mostly screening for problems that have already started.
She also knew what patients face on the other side: a primary care visit that’s over in minutes, or an online clinic that ships a prescription without ever knowing you. Nobody should have to choose between the two.
So she built the third option. A provider who runs the data, builds the program around what it shows, and stays in the relationship. Every hormone optimization, medical weight loss, and peptide program here starts the same way, with the truth about what your body is actually doing.

When you call the clinic our patient coordinator answers. When you fill out the form our coordinator makes sure your intake is complete before your Discovery Call. Scheduling, lab coordination ahead of your Blueprint, and keeping communication on track between visits, all handled by our team so nothing falls through the cracks.
Our coordinator also reaches out after appointments to make sure things are going well and to invite feedback. The relationship your provider builds with you in the exam room is supported by the relationship our team builds with you on the phone and in the inbox. If you have a question between visits our team is the one who gets you an answer.

APRN stands for Advanced Practice Registered Nurse. FNP-C means Afua is Board-Certified as a Family Nurse Practitioner through the American Nurses Credentialing Center. That credential gives her full prescriptive authority in Connecticut and the scope to diagnose, order labs, prescribe medications, and manage treatment programs independently across hormones, weight loss, peptides, and integrative care.
Afua brings 20 years of combined clinical experience, 12 years as a Registered Nurse and 8 years as a Board Certified Family Nurse Practitioner. Her earlier years in nursing included primary care inside a Connecticut long-term care facility, which is where the COVID experience reframed her view of preventive medicine. She founded Superior Health & Wellness to bring that reframed approach to patients before they end up in long-term care.
Yes. Afua conducts every Discovery Call, every initial Blueprint visit, and every follow-up. There is no rotating provider model at Superior Health & Wellness. The relationship is single-provider continuity by design, because the program only works if the person who built it is the one running it with you.
This is a fair question and patients ask it directly. Afua is an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse, board-certified as a Family Nurse Practitioner (APRN, FNP-C). She is not a physician (MD or DO). In Connecticut, her APRN credential gives her full authority to diagnose, order labs, prescribe medications, and run treatment programs independently. She is a nurse practitioner with 8 years of practice and advanced training in everything Superior Health & Wellness offers. She is the provider you will see at every visit.
EliteNP is a national community of nurse practitioners who own and run their own practices. Members share clinical protocols, case discussions, and continuing education on hormone therapy, medical weight loss, peptides, and aesthetics. Afua holds advanced certifications through EliteNP in testosterone replacement, hormone replacement therapy, medical weight loss and GLP-1 therapy, IV therapy, and peptide therapy. The community keeps her practice aligned with the providers doing this work at depth.
