Afua B. Asemnor, APRN
Afua graduated with honors from Brookline College in Phoenix, AZ, where she earned her second Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing. Before this, she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from the University of Hartford in West Harford, CT. She continued her education by completing her Master of Science degree at the University of Connecticut in Nursing in Storrs, CT. She graduated from UConn with distinction and was inducted into Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing, MU chapter. She holds national board certification as a Family Nurse Practitioner through AANP.
She possesses more than a decade of experience in Nursing. As an RN, she worked in the acute hospital setting at Yale New Haven Hospital and the VA hospital, serving our nation’s Veterans in West Haven, CT. At the VA hospital, she mostly treated male patients.
As a Nurse Practitioner, her experience has been in Primary Care/Geriatrics, treating acute illness and chronic diseases, like Obesity, COPD, Hypertension, Kidney Disease, Depression, Dementia, and Congestive Heart Failure. After years of working with chronic disease and illness, she is now focused on helping men & women optimize their health and overall wellness by reducing the risk of these chronic diseases associated with aging, for example, obesity, depression, sexual dysfunction, low energy levels, and stress. This can be done with the correction of hormonal imbalance, exercise, and healthy food choices.
Afua resides in Middletown, Connecticut, with her husband and two small children. She enjoys spending her free time with her family and friends, traveling, kickboxing, and dining at new restaurants.
